How to Crochet a Cuddle Mat for Cats.

This cuddle mat is perfect for your feline pals. And while you're crocheting this one, why not make some extras to donate to your local animal welfare shelter - they're always in need of extra warmth to keep up their fantastic help in caring for cats.

Skill level: beginner

Steps.

1. Note that this mat is worked holding three strands of yarn together throughout.

2. Start crocheting: Chain 37

3. Row 1. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea ch across. 36 sc.

4. Row 2. Ch 1; turn. Sc in front loop of ea sc across.

5. Row 3. Ch 1; turn. Sc in ea sc across.

6. Rows 4 - 47. Repeat rows 2 & 3.

7. Row 48. Repeat row 2. Finish off, leaving at least a 6-inch tail to weave in to prevent unraveling.

8. Crochet the edging. Attach a single strand of yarn in any sc along the edge. Ch 1; work one sc in each sc and end rows around mat. Join in sl st to 1st sc; finish off, leaving a 6-inch tail. Weave in all ends.

9. Finished.

Question : Are the stitches in US or UK terms?

Answer : This pattern uses American terminology. You can tell because a single crochet in UK terms is called a double crochet. So if you see a single crochet in any pattern, you'll know it's using American terminology.
